Setting up Innovation in Vocational Education: SECOVE Innovation Hubs
In the SECOVE project, one of the outputs aiming to foster the collaboration are the setting-up of Innovation Hubs. It will support the knowledge exchange and technological advancements in vocational education and training (VET). These hubs serve as innovation-driven ecosystems where educational institutions, businesses and research organizations converge to develop cutting-edge solutions for VET.
What is an Innovation Hub?
Under the SECOVE project, innovation hubs are designed as dynamic learning spaces where students can actively apply their knowledge in a controlled and supportive environment. These hubs are equipped with the latest devices, technologies, and tools, allowing students to experiment and tackle real-world problems. The primary goals of these innovation hubs are:
- Experiential Learning: Providing hands-on experiences for students.
- Uptake with Technologies: Encouraging the use of cutting-edge technologies.
- Foster Innovation in VET (Vocational Education and Training): Promoting innovative practices within vocational education.
SECOVE Innovation Hubs
Under SECOVE, 6 innovation hubs have been created ant will work as a network of innovation ecosystem:
- Flexible Solar Energy Lab by University of west Attica in Greece
- Digital Transformation IoT Hub by Politeknika Txorierri in Spain
- Innovation Hub on Energy Efficiency of Buildings by CIOFS-FP in Italy
- Technology-Driven Education Innovation Hub in Portugal driven by IPP
- Centre for research and innovation in building and construction in Slovakia
- Entrepreneurship Academy developed by IED Delta and IDEC in Greece
Looking Ahead: The Global Launch in 2025
As the SECOVE project moves towards the Innovation Hubs launch in April-May 2025, all partners are focused on ensuring sustainability and long-term impact of these. By creating collaborative environments, these hubs will drive innovation, digital transformation and green skills development across vocational education sectors in Europe. This network of hubs will support the development of other project activities.
The SECOVE Innovation Hubs represent a new model of knowledge transfer and cooperation, shaping the future of vocational education in a rapidly evolving world.
A Platform for Collaboration and Growth
To centralize and enhance the visibility of these hubs and foster the collaboration in which different activities will be organized, a dedicated platform has been developed offering a comprehensive repository of information and updates:
