Our students successfully implement and defend their IoT projects
Students on the Specialisation Programme on Digital Transformation of Industry at Politeknika Txorierri have spent seven intense weeks working on the development of IoT projects. The aim has been to apply what they have learnt in class and propose real technological solutions to improve energy efficiency in industrial environments. This activity is part of a national competition launched within the European SECOVE project, which focuses on sustainable innovation in vocational training.
These projects were presented at our centre to a mixed jury, made up of Cristina Murillo from the GAIA Cluster, Alex Sánchez from the company Nexmachina and teachers from the Higher VET Course in Computer Network Systems Management at Politeknika Txorierri. It was an opportunity to face a professional scenario, where the quality of the work and the way it was communicated were part of the competition’s assessment.
IoT projects: applied learning with real impact

Beyond the technical aspect, our students prepared an oral presentation, with documentation, functional tests and technical justification. This combination of technical and personal skills has been key to achieving very satisfactory results.
These types of initiatives promote autonomy, teamwork and student confidence. At Politeknika Txorierri, we are committed to vocational training that is connected to reality: real projects, demanding assessments and learning with impact.
SECOVE connecting talent and sustainability in Europe
The SECOVE National Competition is part of a broader European project that seeks to strengthen the capabilities of vocational training centres in sustainable energy and digital transformation. One of its pillars is to promote active learning methodologies and bring young people closer to the real business environment.

The projects developed by our students have been very positively evaluated and will be published on the European project portal. In addition, the selected teams will have the opportunity to represent the centre in the international phase, scheduled for May 2026 in Greece (Saek Galeo centre), where they will share their experience with other centres from all over Europe.
This initiative promoted by SECOVE will continue at the end of January with a new round of presentations. On this occasion, our students from the Higher VET in Industrial Automation and Robotics will present their 12 projects (25 students in total) to a jury made up of Jon Mitxelena from the Gaia Cluster and Jon Zubiria from the Ondoan company, together with teachers from Politeknika Txorierri. This second round will maintain the external evaluation dynamic and will continue to promote key skills in real-world contexts.
