Aligning Skills: Energaia Promotes Networking Event between Companies and Training Centres at ISEP
Energaia organised an in-person event at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), dedicated to the theme Aligning Skills Between Training Centres and Companies. The main objective of this initiative was to strengthen the connection between the education sector and the business community, responding more effectively to labour market needs in the field of sustainable energy.
The event brought together a diverse audience, including representatives from energy companies, vocational schools and higher education institutions, fostering a dynamic discussion on current challenges in professional skills development. During the session, a roundtable discussion addressed skills gaps and opportunities for collaboration, followed by an interactive segment that enabled participants to identify synergies between their organisations needs and potential partners. Throughout the event, the adoption of work-based learning approaches was encouraged, such as internships and talent development partnerships, bringing training provision closer to the demands of the energy transition.
One of the main outcomes of this initiative was the formalisation of bilateral partnerships through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between companies and training providers. These agreements establish a commitment to developing joint initiatives, ensuring that technical training is aligned with the technologies and processes used in industry. Notable partnerships include collaborations between ISEP and organisations such as CICCOPN, Abora Portugal, Builtin and Solu es ao Relento (P2RG).
This event highlighted the role of the SECOVE project as a catalyst for dialogue among key ecosystem actors, reflecting the growing interest of the business sector in actively contributing to the definition of future skills profiles. By facilitating these connections, the project contributes to strengthening the employability of young professionals and fostering innovation in the field of sustainable energy.
