Subject: International Horizons in Green Education: Successful Completion of Student Exchange between SAEK Egaleo and Slovakia via SECOVE
ATHENS – With the conclusion of an extensive cycle of international educational exchanges, SAEK Egaleo reaffirms its position as a pioneering hub for extroversion and innovation in Vocational Training. The collaboration with educational institutions from Kosice, Slovakia, under the framework of the European program SECOVE (Sustainable Energy Centres of Vocational Excellence), has created a unique “bridge of knowledge” for students pursuing green professions.
Bidirectional Mobility: From Kosice to Athens
The initiative launched in December 2025, when students from the Renewable Energy Sources department of SAEK Egaleo traveled to Slovakia. There, they delved into the technology of Green Roofs – Vegetated Roofs, studying sustainable solutions specifically designed for the urban environment.
The collaboration reached its peak in February 2026, with the hosting of Slovakian students in Greece. The visiting students, alongside those from the Renewable Energy Sources Technical department (4th Semester) of SAEK Egaleo, focused on the “SOLAR ENERGY TECHNICS” module. The comprehensive program included:
-
Educational visit to the VERDE TEC 2026 exhibition: Students explored the latest developments in RES (Renewable Energy Sources) and the circular economy.
-
Site visit to NANODOMI S.A.: An industry-leading company where students were guided through real-world installation conditions for photovoltaic systems.
-
Tour of VET structures in Athens: Exploring laboratory spaces and Vocational Education and Training structures to promote the exchange of best practices.
-
Hands-on Training: Practical laboratory exercises and in-depth theory analysis powered by SECOVE ACADEMY.
SECOVE Academy: The Digital Pillar of Education
The connective tissue of both mobility cycles was the innovative SECOVE Academy platform, which served as the central learning tool. The platform’s contribution to the educational process has been transformative, offering:
-
Interactive Learning: Through specialized videos and theoretical material, students mastered complex technical concepts prior to practical application.
-
Matterport Virtual Tours (VR): The use of Virtual Reality technology allowed students to navigate digital models of installations with precise technical specifications, bridging the gap between theory and industrial reality.
-
Knowledge Certification: Completion of each module was validated through rigorous quizzes (requiring a 70% success rate), ensuring a high level of training for all participants.
Statement from Professor Konstantinos Delistathis
“The strength of this partnership lies in the union of technology with human connection. Through the SECOVE Academy and these exchanges, our students did not just acquire technical skills in photovoltaics and green roofs; they became members of a European community that shares the same vision for a sustainable future.”
This initiative highlights the commitment of SAEK Egaleo to investing in cutting-edge tools and international collaborations, effectively preparing its students for the global green job market.
